چکیده
A good understanding of concepts is needed to prevent students from misunderstanding. One effort that can be done apply the POE (Predict-Observe-Explain) learning model with help Educandy educational game. This study aims measure effect applying game application increase students’ conceptual temperature and heat subjects. was quasi-experimental design research, using nonequivalent control group design. The population this 128 junior high schools SMPN 25 Pekanbaru (Class VII.I-Class VII.4). first class, VII.1, used as experimental third VII.3, while other class generalization classes. Research instrument pretest post-test containing 28 questions used. result processed by descriptive interferential techniques T-test. data processing technique inferential, t-test for N-gain an evaluation method. results indicated in both classes had increased, but average value higher than class. It described on 0.7 experiment 0.3 show assisted games based significantly improve concepts.

Modeling Students’ Emotions to Improve Learning with Educational Games
We describe preliminary research on intelligent pedagogical agents designed to maximize students’ learning from educational games, while maintaining the high level of positive emotional engagement that games usually trigger. The agents’ behavior is based on a decision theoretic model, dictating that agents act so as to maximize the expected utility of their actions. In our framework, a pedagogi...
متن کاملUsing Games to Improve Students' Communicative Ability
It is believed that the communicative language teaching approach (abbreviated as CLTA) is one of the most effective methods to keep away from the weaknesses of the traditional English teaching method in developing students’ communicative ability. Using games, which is communicative in essence, are often considered effective in developing students’ communicative ability. In order to help English...
متن کاملLearning to Assess Low-Level Conceptual Understanding
This paper analyzes the impact of several lexical and grammatical features in automated assessment of students’ finegrained understanding of tutored concepts. Truly effective dialog and pedagogy in Intelligent Tutoring Systems is only achievable when systems are able to understand the detailed relationships between a student’s answer and the desired conceptual understanding. We describe a new m...
متن کاملLearning by Failing to Explain
Explanation-based Generalization depends on having an explanation on which to base generalization. Thus, a system with an incomplete or intractable explanatory mechanism will not be able to generalize some examples. It is not necessary, in those cases, to give up and resort to purely empirical generalization methods, because the system may already know almost everything it needs to explain the ...
متن کاملTo Explain or to Predict?
Statistical modeling is a powerful tool for developing and testing theories by way of causal explanation, prediction, and description. In many disciplines there is near-exclusive use of statistical modeling for causal explanation and the assumption that models with high explanatory power are inherently of high predictive power. Conflation between explanation and prediction is common, yet the di...
